Picture Book Package - $1,050

A picture book is a short text that has a heavy focus on illustrations. You do NOT need to illustrate (or hire an illustrator) to write a picture book. This package focuses on the words and story of your book.

The writer will receive:

1. An initial consultation with your editor to go over your idea, and how you want to proceed. (If a draft is provided, this meeting will also include some content feedback.)

2. Templates for picture book composition

3. THREE rounds of content review with an editor (after the initial consultation)

4. Final proofread of the completed document

5. Review, editing, and content support for your query letter

Non-Fiction Package - prices range from $1,000 - $3,000

A non-fiction project could be a self-help book, an academic essay collection, or a report. Prices will be set as soon as the editor reviews the current content. Price is based on the editorial needs of the text, as well as the length.

Program Steps

Step 1: Pick your program

image7

We have three program types: children's literature, non-fiction, and fiction novel. Each has a different path to completion, and will be tailored to your needs and the needs of your work.

Step 2: Work with your editor

image8

Your editor will work with you to develop content, and walk you through the deadlines and steps needed to complete your work. The work will still be yours to complete, and the book will stay in your hands, but this feedback can bring enormous insights into how to grow your work.

Each other gets THREE ROUNDS of content review with the editor. Content review means that the editor will make broad comments on things that work, and things that need work. The editor will provide this feedback within your draft, and communicate with you about the work via email, phone, or video call to make sure you understand the recommendations.

Step 3: Polish & finalize your work

When all feedback is incorporated, your editor will take a final pass, polishing your book, and getting it ready for you to submit for publication.

Your editor will also help you with your query letter, if you decide you want to submit your text to publishing houses or literary agencies.

Frequently Asked Questions

image10

Will you help me get published?

Our New Writers Program is focused on getting your book ready for you to submit for publication. This does include walking you through the various routes to publication. However, we are not a publishing house or a literary agency. We will get your content ready, and provide proofing services, but we cannot guarantee publication, nor can we publish your book ourselves.

I'm not actually "new" to writing. Can you help me, too?

We can! Although the New Writer's Program is aimed at new authors, we work with veteran authors as well. Contact us and we can create a package designed for your needs.

What qualifies you to work with new writers?

Our editor-in-chief / founder / CEO (Amy Maranville) has worked with dozens of authors who are new to their genre, or to the field of writing itself. Many of the books Amy worked on have since been published. Some have even won awards. The trick to working with new writers is to remember that everyone has a unique voice; so bringing that voice forward is the main goal of the editor. Helping the writer to see their own talent is key.

I have an idea, but nothing written yet. Should I wait to register, or do it now?

That really depends on what you want to get out of the program. If you're looking for support as you write, or you need someone to work with you on an ongoing basis as you draft, you can start the process right now.

Some writers find it motivating to have external deadlines on their calendars. Knowing that they have to turn in a draft helps them sit down and put words on the page.

I have other questions. Can I contact you directly?

You sure can. See "Contact Us" below, and get in touch.
